Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A bus carrying BJP workers to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally was vandalized on Thursday morning near the Shimultala petrol pump in Dinhata, Alipurduar. The incident resulted in the breaking of the front windshield of the bus, causing the workers to leave the vehicle and move to another location. Reports say multiple BJP vehicles were stopped at various points including Dinhata station, Madanmohanbari, Puttimari, Sheetlabari, and Saheberhat.
BJP leader Ajay Roy stated that the bus was stopped forcibly by Trinamool Congress (TMC) workers who then attacked it with sticks and rods. Divakar Roy, BJP co-coordinator of the Sitai assembly area, said the incident occurred in front of the police, whom he accused of remaining passive during the attack. According to him, this has contributed to a tense atmosphere in the region.
TMC block president Bishu Dhar denied the allegations, calling them baseless and questioned the presence of BJP workers in the area. No independent confirmation of the claims has been reported. The situation remains tense with both parties holding opposing views about the events leading up to the PM’s rally.
